The Ramayana is one of the great epic poems of South Asia. The epic relates the story of the abduction of Sita, the wife of Prince Rama of Ayodhya, who was banished from his kingdom by treachery to deprive him of his inheritance. Prince Rama, his wife Sita, and his brother Lakshamana all left Ayodhya to live in the forest.
The poem tells us Surpanakha, the sister of Ravana – King of Lanka, fell in love with Prince Rama. Disfigured by Lakshmana and chased away, King Ravana, furious over the treatment of his sister, abducted Sita and brought her to Lanka. The attempt to seek her release brought Rama and his army across the Seethu Rama Bridge to Lanka.
Our trail follows the locations where Sita was imprisoned to the great battle fields where King Ravana’s armies clashed with Prince Rama’s soldiers, and finally where Sita was freed.
