Kandy Esala Perahera

Kandy Esala Perahera is a celebration that takes place in the months of July and August in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is also known as The Festival of the Tooth.
The Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha is kept at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, and this historical procession is done every year to pay tribute to the relic.
The term “randoli” alludes to the palanquins on which the Queens of the Kings who were in power customarily traveled. The Kandy Esala Maha Perahera (Randoli Perahera), which took place the day of the full moon poya, was attended by hundreds of thousands, of people.
