1. Sangilean Thoopu

2. Jaffna Library

Alfred Duraiappah, the Mayor of Jaffna at the time, founded it. The Indo-Saracenic style was used in the construction of this library. This library suffered a tragedy when it was burned down during the Jaffna civil war in 1981. At the time, this library was thought to be Asia’s largest. It housed nearly 97000 books and manuscripts.

3. Nallur Temple

Pilgrims from all over the world come to Nallur Temple. The golden arch and the extended Gopuram are the main features of this Nallur Temple. People come here primarily to explore the Gopuram. The temple’s foundation was built in the eighteenth century. The Portuguese destroyed the old construction of this building, which was built during the reign of Tamil Kings, in 1620. This temple is now regarded as the primary location for any religious festival.

4. Nainatheevu

This tourist destination is well-known for its boat services. You will undoubtedly enjoy the boat ride and visit to the island. This island is about 2 to 3 hours’ drive from the city of Jaffna. The amount of time required to visit is determined by the availability of boats to get there. After receiving the blessings of the Goddess Amba Devi, a wealthy foreign trader built the main temple here. Unfortunately, the Portuguese destroyed this temple, but it was rebuilt in the 18th century. The actual Gopuram was added to it in the year 1933.

5. Jaffna Fort

Jaffna Fort is regarded as one of the most important tourist attractions in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. During the Portuguese invasion of Jaffna in 1618, people of Portuguese origin established this fort. This fort is located close to the city of Karaiyur. This fort is also known as the Jaffna Fortress of Our Lady of Miracles. The Dutch invaders conquered this fort in 1658, and the British retook it in 1795. This fort was captured by the LTTE from 1986 to 1995, and it was recaptured by the Sri Lanka Army in 1995.

6. Kandarodei Temple

This is yet another magnificent location that belongs on the list of must-see attractions in Jaffna.This is a historic Buddhist site in Jaffna that dates back thousands of years.This temple is only 8 kilometers from Jaffna Town and is close to Chunnakam. The ground is a total of an acre, and the building is covered in stone that is the color of ash. There are 61 dagobas, some of which are incomplete.Stone texts that date back to the Anuradhapura Period are still present in this temple, demonstrating its extensive antiquity.

7.Keerinalain or Naguleeswaram Temple

The major reason tourists from all over the world come here is to take a bath in the natural water spring. After taking a bath here, it is stated that all illnesses and sicknesses would be cured.This temple is frequented by many Hindu pilgrims seeking blessings. This location, which is 15 miles from the city center, is ideal for taking a warm bath and revitalizing your spirit.At this location, those who practice religion will find serenity.

 8. Casuarina Beach

 One of the most alluring sites to visit on the Jaffna Peninsula is Casuarina Beach, which is located in Karainagar, Jaffna District, Sri Lanka.The distance from Jaffna to this beach, also known as Casuarina, is about 20 kilometers. The beach’s pristine sand is its greatest draw. The Casoorina Trees, which can be found all along the shore, inspired the naming of this beach. It will take 45 minutes to reach to one of the most well-known tourist attractions in the Jaffna district if you wish to stroll the length of the beach.

 9. Dambakola Patuna

When visiting Sri Lanka, Dambakola Patuna is the ideal site to go if you’re a real history aficionado.Due to its 2000-year history as Sri Lanka’s first port, this location has a rich history. Sanghamitta, the daughter of King Ashoka, landed at this port to promote Buddhism.
